How can a Las Vegas SAT course help me?
Varsity Tutors is here to bring you a convenient way to learn skills, tactics, and test-taking strategies. By signing up, you are immediately enrolled in an online class that joins you with other students and an instructor. The benefits of enrolling include in-depth coverage of each section of the SAT. Attending via an online virtual classroom platform, sessions work in a similar way as an in-person classroom experience. New classes begin weekly, and students have the option of taking two or four-week sessions. With the convenience of modern technology, you can enjoy this interactive learning experience anywhere you have access to the internet. You can attend class at your local coffee shop or your neighborhood library.
The goal of your instructor is to help make the content of the test clear. This could involve an overview of the scoring process, practice tests, discussion of specific topics the exam covers, and more. In a Las Vegas SAT course, you will also have chances for group interaction with other students in an encouraging and positive environment. Group activities and discussion can also enable you to engage in immediate feedback and help you make sense of difficult material. Collaborative learning can help deepen your understanding of the concepts tested and can help you feel more comfortable when it comes time to take the SAT. The interactive course structure also gives you the opportunity to discuss topics that might be problem areas for you with your instructor on a one on one basis.
What does a Las Vegas SAT course cover?
Familiarizing yourself with the material on the test is important to your personal study efforts. A Las Vegas SAT class prepares you for test day. You will learn about the format of each section of the test and what it is designed to assess. The SAT questions will require you to read, understand, and revise texts. You will need to demonstrate an ability to synthesize and interpret data presented from multiple sources in varying formats. The test is multiple choice, and there is no penalty for wrong answers. You are only scored on your correct responses. It is comprised of 3 required sections: Reading, Math, Writing & language. There is also an optional essay.
For the Reading section, your score is combined with your score on the Writing & Language section. Combined, you can score anywhere from 200 to 800 points. You are given 65 minutes to complete 52 questions. Here you will need to read, examine, and evaluate several passages that will be from a range of topics. Expect to see reading material discussing core foundational scientific developments in areas like physics and chemistry. You will also come across passages from contemporary and classic literature, social science, and founding US government documents. The goal of this section is to assess your command of evidence and your ability to apply analytical skills while providing a basis for sound conclusions. Can you identify the relationship between text and relevant data?
在写作和语言考试的一部分,你have to answer 44 questions in a 35-minute time frame. Questions here can include charts, tables, and graphs. You will be asked to improve the content of passages after assessing the evidence put forth in the argument. Executing this accurately will involve the addition of relevant supporting details and the sharpening of assertions made in the passages you were given. You should be demonstrating a thorough comprehension of the material by improving the way it develops the information. Examining, expanding, and improving the style choices, sentence structure, organization, and tone of the excerpts in this section is very important.
The last required section to complete is Math. Your score in this part ranges from 200 to 800 points, and the section is divided into two stages. In one, you will be able to use a calculator to answer 8 grid-ins and 30 multiple choice questions in 55 minutes. In the other, you cannot use a calculator and have 25 minutes to complete 15 questions that are also multiple choice in addition to 5 grid-ins. The goal in this section is to show a clear sense of math comprehension. The questions here necessitate a demonstration of skill in carrying out procedures quickly, accurately, and in context. The SAT refers to three specific content areas on this portion of the test: Problem Solving & Data Analysis, Passport to Advanced Math, and Heart of Algebra.
An optional essay is offered last, and it is a one question section about a provided passage. This portion of the SAT is concerned with assessing your ability to create a focused and organized essay in response to the passage. Your essay should not be about your opinion of the excerpt. Instead, it should demonstrate an understanding and evaluation of how the central ideas and details presented by the author are presented.

…I am hard working and I love seeing others succeed. I will able to tutor for most of this summer, so about from the end of May to mid-August. I am on break and would love to tutor. I will be able to tutor for about 20 hours a weekor more, depending on what comes up this summerpreferably during the day but if evenings are prioritized then I can work evenings as well.... I will help a student stay motivated by reminding them that persistence is key. I might throw in a personal anecdote of a time where I was losing motivation but decided to keep powering through. Reminding them to stay motivated is a major key to success.

I strive to help others learn by presenting information in a new light, experimenting with different methods of learning, and tracing back difficulties to their roots. I hope to make education less stressful and more accessible to students who are struggling or just need that extra help.... I believe that teaching needs to be individualized to the student's needs. Some people love lectures and taking their own notes, while other students need an element of play. I like to find out what works for each student, no one-size-fits-all molds.

Adrian: Las Vegas SAT course instructor
My name is Adrian and I am currently working on my BS in Mathematics and Minor in Secondary Education at UNLV. I am 26 years old and I have been in Las Vegas all my life. I also am the first person to go to college in my family and I am first generation Mexican-American. My hobbies include painting and playing rugby. I am very tall...... With a first session I want to target all of the trouble areas and see where is the base of the issue. If it is dealing with math most of the time the issues build off each other and starting with the foundation of the concept helps with understanding the rest of the concept. Before that I would like to know how the student works and how they learn best.

…to be articulate, and in my spare time I listen to music and play Super Smash Bros. I also watch lots of cool Math videos on YouTube and will probably talk about/reference them a lot. Math has been this fun but demanding adventure in my life. I've had the fortune to have great teachers and generous sponsors. I hope to change peoples fundamental perceptions of math to something more meaningful, critical, and positive.... I believe that when I am teaching it is important for me to balance the rigor of the content with the accessibility of how I present the information to the student. As a tutor I try to communicate as effectively as possible in a way that is personal to the learner. Math is all about noticing patterns, and without a solid understanding at any level of math advancement is harder and disjointed. It is my responsibility as a tutor to make sure the learner is understanding what we are doing, why we are doing it, and how we do it. Learning and competency are my primary objectives. I never want a learner to feel like they should not ask questions. When you hire me it is because you want to gain knowledge, not for me to pass judgment. I take learning seriously, but also try to show how it can be fun.
