Anthropology Tutoring FAQ
人类学关注的结构和过程es of human life, whether these are material objects, cultural or social practices, methods of communication, or skeletal remains. As a discipline, it emerged in the late nineteenth century as an attempt to understand the diversity of human life. American anthropology is traditionally divided into four fields: sociocultural, biological, and linguistic anthropology, along with archaeology. This makes anthropology a very diverse discipline, and it is not uncommon for an individual to become immersed in his or her specialty to the exclusion of other anthropological aspects. If you are studying this broad and intriguing field, you may quickly find yourself faced with foreign material that seems out of your depth. Whether you have fallen way behind in your studies, or you are looking to make the honor roll, hiring a tutor will greatly benefit you.
Sociocultural anthropology (which is often called social anthropology in the British tradition and cultural anthropology in the American tradition) is the study of human cultures, societies, institutions, and practices, often through qualitative methods such as ethnography. While it initially approached traditional societies, sociocultural anthropology now considers any culture a legitimate object of study. Biological anthropology is the study of skeletal remains in order to understand evolution, behavioral ecology, non-contemporary illness, and the cultural context of remains, such as burial. It differs from the field of biology insofar as biological anthropology takes human beings (and, in evolutionary cases, other primates) who are no longer living as its object of study. Archaeology differs from biological anthropology in that it is the study not of human remains directly, but of cultural remains and the various objects of ancient societies: their use, production, value, and meaning. Linguistic anthropology is more closely related to sociocultural anthropology, but while the latter tends to focus on myriad systems and processes, the former is specifically focused on the cultural systems and processes of human communication, including technology (from pre-literate communication to the stylus to the cell phone) and performance (such as theater, ritual, or speech acts). As you can see, there are many different types of anthropology and learning about each type can be overwhelming. That is where a tutor comes in; Varsity Tutors will step in to find you a tutor who will make this subject easier to understand.
Thus, anthropology is extremely diverse and you may be having some trouble fully understanding its scope if you are just beginning to study it. Then again, perhaps you are a graduate student highly specialized in your research who is simply in need of some extra assistance to clarify the material. No matter the level of difficulty you may be experiencing, anthropology tutoring can help you discover the knowledge necessary to succeed in the discipline. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with knowledgeable tutors in each of the fields of anthropology and can help you select a tutor who focuses specifically on your area of interest. Furthermore, instructors customize your anthropology tutoring sessions to your specific learning needs, strengths, and weaknesses. Your tutor will take the time to get to know you on a personal level so they can create the best lesson plan for you. In addition to a customized learning plan, you will develop a real relationship with your tutor. You will never feel like just a number. This individualized instruction is done according to your scheduling requirements, at the location of your choice. If you don't have the time or feel comfortable meeting in person, you can also schedule an online tutoring session. The online course uses a live platform that has been professionally tested.

Recent Anthropology Tutoring Session Notes
学生有一个生物anthropolog即将到来y test, so he asked if I could go over some of this topic with him. We covered some of the basics of taxonomic categorization, natural selection, evolution, creationism, human evolution, and historical trends in anthropology.
The student and I went over her Pre-Algebra homework over subtracting integers. I had her write down the rules of this as well. We then proceeded to go over her Humanities (Social Studies); more specifically we went over the 4 sections that are going to be on her test early next week. We completed the interactive online web lessons and self-assessment quizzes. Later on we studied over some Latin and completed the online web lessons and self-assessment quizzes for that course as well.
Started and completed Current Events assignment for Ancient Civilizations. Started 1.5 Homework for Monday. Started Math homework. Reviewed all binders for organization and preparation for upcoming deadlines.
Today's session was highly productive and fairly straightforward. We simply reviewed the student's sociology assignment with the aim of bringing it up to top quality work. The assignment consisted of defining various terms, and then providing examples of those terms from the student's life. In many cases, the definitions and examples she gave were strong, and required only minor modifications. In a few cases however, it was necessary to rework the definition and examples entirely. Overall, we vastly improved her assignment.
We exchanged emails, then met to discuss the scope of the project and initial idea - a research design project for an MS-level sociology/public policy class. We chose the effects of corporate policies on aging populations. We discussed operationalization of variables and agreed to exchange drafts by email.
The student has a social studies test on Thursday, so we spent a long time finishing the study guide for his test. We talked about what would be on the test and we decided that it would be a good idea for me to create a practice test for him to take tomorrow. He also expressed interesting in working on argumentative writing prompts, so I told him I'd work on a prompt for him for tomorrow as well.
