Today, the student practiced his unit 19 and 20 vocabulary words for his test on Monday. Then, he started Cry, the Beloved Country in language arts, so we went over chapters 1-3 and he answered study questions about the chapters. The student also practiced summarizing information by identifying the main points and being able to retell the main concepts of the information he read.

We work through the student's exam prep worksheets. Her test is scheduled for Wednesday. The material covers inversion functions, properties of logs and exponential functions, and compound growth. She needed help mostly with algebraic steps to rearrange equation to solve for the unknowns and converting from logb(x)=y to b^y=x. We worked through the steps showing the proper way to obtain the answers. She began to understand the material and steps towards the end of the session. She just needs to become more confident in her own abilities to help her overcome her anxiety.

Tutoring review by Jeehee in New Lebanon, OH
The concepts we covered were the z-test and their confidence intervals. We continued to do problems on the review guide that the student's teacher gave her and the class. I have noticed that she has a better understanding of the z-test. Today, we reviewed over the assumptions and conditions that different tests have that can greatly differentiate what the problem is asking and what test to use. The student was engaged during her session and asking questions about concepts she does not understand. I asked her to start reviewing over the problems that we have been doing and discussing.

The student had a test on Tuesday. I asked him how he did on the test and he said he felt that he did well since he had enough time to check his work and correct his errors. His homework assignment for the evening was regarding trigonometric formulas (using half angle and double angle formulas to find trigonometric values). There were about ten multiple step problems, which he was able to complete by the end of the session.

The student and I reviewed annuities. She knew the formula for it, but needed help interpreting the variables involved and working through the indirect approach. We broke down every variable and made sure she could identify them. We spent the rest of the session practicing problems on annuities.
