Tutoring review by Wanda in East Hartford, CT
The student received approval that I may be proctor for his exams in all of his classes. We got everything set up so I will be able to administer a test to him that has been keeping him from progressing in English. We worked on his World Cultures class and reviewed chapter 2, including a very detailed/lengthy check test.

We focused on his final exam review packet, spending a lot of time on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing rational expressions. The student's final exam covers a lot of information and his review packet is quite thick. We will continue working on this until it is complete and he feels confident and ready to nail his final exam.

Tutoring review by Laura in East Hartford, CT
The student told me today that she had a quiz this week on decimals (adding, subtracting, and multiplying) and that she got a 92%. Her homework tonight was on the same topic. Both the problem set and the word problems on the homework involved adding, subtracting, or multiplying decimals. She did very well on those concepts. I also had her complete a timed multiplication worksheet, and we worked on a word problem from one of my books that involved money amounts (decimals) with several steps, so that was some good extra practice.

We discussed thermo-chemistry concepts and gas laws. We covered the ideas of specific heat and investigated why certain substances have high or low specific heats. We also used specific heat to see how the temperature of substances will equilibrate. We used the ideal gas law to determine the amount of particles in a certain gas.

Tutoring review by George in East Hartford, CT
First, I showed the student an elegant proof of the Pythagorean Theorem. Then, we worked on chapter P (prerequisites) from his Pre-Calculus book. This included topics from algebra such as set theory, algebraic expressions, exponents, radicals, equations, and inequalities. I informed him that his job is to learn and relearn many things and that pre-calculus is like practicing scales when learning to play the piano. He was fun and easy to work with.
