Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Colleen in Portland, OR
Today the student completed his Thursday homework and we studied for his quiz tomorrow. He is definitely improving in answering the questions correctly and in complete sentences. He and I enumerated several things to remember for his quiz tomorrow and went over test taking expectations. He has a hard time with these quizzes, which are all short answer questions. He knows everything, so we brainstormed how he can effectively convey this knowledge.

Today the student brought in a trig assignment and study guides for his upcoming Physics. He finished his trigonometry assignment and understood the concepts, going as far as to explain them to me to refresh my memory! Then we looked at his physics review guide and he found all the physics homework assignments relevant to the test in his binder. We worked through several problems together, discussing the concepts and when and how to use formulas to solve the problems.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Geoffrey in Portland, OR
Today we talked about all the different learning styles and took a quiz to uncover what his learning style is. The student is a visual, interpersonal, and musical learner. We used that to start talking about backwards planning and how to keep track of everything going on at school and at home. For homework, I had him start backwards planning based on the goals we set last week. He is keeping track of all his work so far, so that is a win.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by William in Portland, OR
学生有一个很大的美国政府分配coming up: a research paper that encompasses a study and eventual biography of a US President. Her subject is James Monroe. We started the session off by recapping the scholarly articles she's accumulated for this task, and made sure her MLA citation was done correctly both on her reference page and in-text. This is a tough aspect of essay writing for students to grasp; the student did a great job with it. She has effectively created an outline skeleton for her paper and now only needs to implement the sources into her content. We of course concluded the session by going over the rest of her classes to make sure we're on top of upcoming assignments.
