选择一个奥马哈大学提供的中文课程Tutors, and you may find this challenging language much easier to learn. Chinese might be one of the hardest languages to learn, but it's also potentially the most beneficial. Learning Chinese could benefit you in many notable ways.
In terms of academics, plenty of programs have language requirements, such as those offered by the College of Saint Mary or the University of Nebraska. Even at the high school level, there might be plenty of hard-working high school students that want to learn Chinese along with their other studies.
Outside of academics, the opportunities that arise after learning Chinese are almost endless. Chinese is widely recognized as one of the most useful languages to learn in the business world, especially when it comes to international trade. China is a manufacturing powerhouse, and plenty of companies do business with this nation on a regular basis. Even learning Chinese for fun could be an amazing and rewarding challenge.
While the Chinese language might seem completely foreign to English speakers, it's actually the most common language on Earth. Technically speaking, English is an obscure, strange language compared to Chinese when you look at the global picture! By far the most common Chinese dialect is Mandarin, but there are many other dialects spoken throughout China and the rest of the world. For example, Cantonese is a dialect you might hear spoken most commonly by Chinese speakers in the United States and Canada.
The Chinese language is unique because it's the last remaining pictographic language. Ancient Mayans and Egyptians were Ancient cultures that also used elements of pictography in their written systems. Though Chinese might be a very difficult language to learn, learning such an ancient linguistic system could be an incredible experience. China's written system is thousands of years old, and their oral system is even older. Some written characters date back to the Shang Dynasty, which ruled almost 4,000 years ago.
What Might An Omaha Chinese Course Cover?
One of the main reasons why Chinese is such a challenging language for English speakers is that the two languages have virtually nothing in common. This isn't like learning French or German, where you might recognize a few identical or very similar words. As you learn Chinese, you'll truly be flying blind. A great example of this is the tonal system in Mandarin Chinese. Words might appear identical, but they have very different meanings depending on the tone being used. The four tones in Mandarin are flat, rising, falling then rising, and falling. There's also no real indication of how a word should be pronounced based on the character you're reading. Unlike English, you can't "sound it out". These major differences will be covered in depth over your learning sessions.
But with all that said, you'll learn that certain elements of Chinese are actually easier to understand compared to English. For example, Chinese doesn't really have a pluralization system. In English, we usually put an "s" on the end of words to indicate plurality, but Chinese has no equivalent. Nouns simply remain the same, no matter what. This could be a welcome break to some of the more challenging aspects of the Chinese language. This is also why English is slightly challenging to Chinese speakers.
Your Chinese course will also tackle plenty of other topics, and you'll steadily build on a strong foundation of knowledge. The concepts you'll cover include accented letters, Chinese pronunciation rules, the conjugation of verbs, and past and future tenses. You'll learn about the unique gender pronoun system used in the Chinese language. This system is interesting because you can only tell masculine and feminine pronouns apart based on pronunciation. And of course, you can also learn plenty of common phrases that help you carry a conversation in Chinese. Your course can help you learn all of these various concepts and much more.
How Does An Omaha Chinese Course Help You Learn?
These Omaha Chinese courses feature a unique and innovative virtual classroom system. These virtual classrooms are completely online, and you can access them from anywhere in the world. Just like a normal classroom, you'll learn alongside other students, and you'll have the chance to interact, ask questions, and converse in Chinese with your classmates. Group-based learning has proven benefits, and it's even more helpful when learning a new language. Unless you're learning in a group, you won't have the opportunity to practice speaking Chinese with other people in realistic scenarios. You'll learn from qualified, expert instructors who know the Chinese language in depth. These instructors go through a rigorous interview and vetting process, and successful candidates are partly chosen based on their communication skills.
