I have an M.H. with a concentration in creative writing from Tiffin University, a B.A. in liberal studies with a concentration in creative writing and literature from Antioch University, and an A.A. in creative writing from Sinclair Community College. Throughout my academic career, I have devoted my life to showcasing and sharing the power of storytelling in our lives as a tool that compels us to reconsider the way we think of ourselves and the world around us. I spent three years tutoring my fellow students from eighteen-year-olds just discovering their potential to students in their sixties looking to rediscover themselves. I also spent a summer at the Boys and Girls Club working primarily with five to seven-year-olds to help foster their interest in reading, learning, and developing critical thinking skills. While I have tutored in numerous subjects from history and sociology to social work and criminal justice, my passion is in English, literature, and writing. My experience tutoring, proctoring, and helping students develop healthy study habits has taught me that regardless of age, every student can be successful when they have access to a support system. Often the biggest obstacle to a student's success is not the material, but rather their self-esteem. Teaching a student to believe in their ability to be successful is just as important as teaching them the difference between theme and plot or present and past tense. In my spare time, I love writing and reading poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and creative nonfiction.
