I have had the good fortune to work for fifteen years as a researcher in physics and astronomy and for ten years as a scientific programmer. In the process, I earned a bachelors in physics from MIT and three masters degrees in physics and astronomy from Ohio State, University of Minnesota, and Louisiana State University. I worked on orbital dynamics simulations of black holes, a gravitational wave database, a statistical gravitational wave detection algorithm, theoretical particle physics, experimental neutrino physics, exoplanets, cosmology, and fractional calculus. Currently I program Newtonian star orbits.

It is a pleasure to work with the hard-working students who seek tutoring. I have led laboratory sections of introductory physics for both majors and non majors for five years. I've played a role in supervising undergraduate and high school research progress at Louisiana State University. I've developed changes for the University of Minnesota physics laboratory manual. I've graded upper level undergrad and graduate physics and astronomy. More recently, I've tutored on Facebook mathematics and physics forums with a hundred thousand participants. Between the three universities, I have also spent countless hours tutoring.

Since February 2020, I have enjoyed tutoring students via video online through Varsity Tutors, mostly in calculus, physics, statistics, and astronomy at the high school and college levels.

Please bring homework or exercises to tutoring when possible. Tutoring is not a substitute for doing the readings, doing the homework, or taking the tests, but if there are take home components of the class it is a great opportunity to work them together and be sure you understand the process so that you can work them alone later.

If you want tutoring beyond the curriculum of your class, that can be arranged, but we will need to discuss the subjects you wish to cover sufficiently in advance that I can prepare some materials for our session.
