I am a recent graduate from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL. While attending there I received my Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with concentration in Discrete Analysis and a minor in Computer Science. As I studied for my degree, I worked at the math lab at my school tutoring other students in various math subjects from College Algebra to Calculus 2. Math has always been my favorite subject and I have always been good at it. Because of this I was able to help other students in my classes to better understand the material especially when we didn't have a good teacher. Taking so many math classes, I can tell that the quality of the professor/teacher affects students grades and ability to learn the material and have learned from those good professors/teachers how to help a student learn the material. When I tutor I like to explain the concept and make sure the student understands, if they do not I explain it in a different point of view until they understand. After the student understands the concept we will apply it together on problems testing them throughout the way to make sure they understand and are able to do the next problem on their own. In my experience this method was the most helpful in tutoring, although all students have different learning styles and this method can be adjusted. I find it fulfilling helping students understand what I am most passionate about.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would explain the skill or concept in different ways until they understand; the point of view on problems is key.
