I am currently a Biochemistry student at Baylor University. My passion for tutoring others began when I was a senior in high school tutoring other students in regular chemistry. It was not long after I began that I sensed joy and excitement within me as I saw students' light bulbs go off and a slight smile on their faces when they finally understood the problem. After graduating from high school, I was able to help students again in Chemistry when I accepted the position as a Chemistry Supplemental Instructor at Baylor University. As a Supplemental instructor, I focus not just on understanding the material but also study skills that will enhance their learning process.

In my free time, I enjoy crafting, reading, dancing, and spending time with my family.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Learning from your mistakes is one of the biggest aspect of learning. Understanding the big picture first will greatly help in understanding more challenging problems.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Go over the syllabus and create a calendar to indicate when exams will be held. Then, make a list of problems the student is having in the course, such as particular topics or studying habits.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Ask them open-ended questions. Don't immediately give the answer to the student.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Provide words of encouragement throughout the session and let the student know my availability in the event that they need further support.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Provide more visual aids or provide more examples to assist in the learning process.
