I was Born in Lima Peru, and moved to California to pursue higher education. Attained a Bachelor in Science of Nursing from CSUSM in Northern San Diego County, CA, and graduated with Honors. Currently a Registered Nurse with a prospect of returning to School for a Nurse Practitioner Degree in Education/Research and certification in Music Therapy. I recently relocated to Florida and have just received my license in this State as well, but gladly the flexibility in my schedule allows me to put my tutor skills to good use at this point.

我有教学经验请,显然和帕特iently. I have worked as a nurse for many years in a hospital, and every patient interaction is taken as an opportunity for learning. Teaching patients and families regarding their medical condition, medications, and plan of care, while they are under the stress of being in the hospital can require a lot of patient explaining, repetitiveness, and time to allow for return demonstration, a skill which I truly value and strive for every time. I care about helping others and I care about you attaining your goals. Needless to say, you will have my complete attention whether we meet online or in person.

Not only have I experienced mentoring others or have been mentored myself, but I have grown up in a family where teaching was my father's vocation, and which he practiced since the early age of nineteen. He has been a role model to me of what a good tutor should be, and also that many times tutors becomes someone who can positively influence others lives.

I have taught adults, and teenagers but I have two little sisters who I helped raised, and I have a special place in my heart for them. Learning can be fun, can be translated into everyday life, and can become something you care about. We all get stuck sometimes when we are studying something for the first time, or after revisiting after a long time. It's okay, that is why tutors are here to help you clear doubts and make different subjects less intimidating.

My tutoring strengths are in teaching Biology, Physical Sciences, Microbiology, Public Speaking, Study and organizational skills, and teaching Language (Espaol & English at full proficiency, and Beginners French). I selected these subjects because I am confident in these areas, and have had great results during my own years as a student in them. As a tutor, I am very patient as I have been in your shoes, I know the feeling of being stuck and the anxiety that comes before a test, the longing for a better GPA to get to your dream career, and the need of being able to communicate in a foreign land. I love making learning fun, and practical, I love to give examples for you to grasp concepts, watch you be able to rationalize them and explain back to me. I believe everybody can achieve success with proper direction, and as I learn from you I will be sensitive to your learning style and needs.

Outside of academia, I thoroughly enjoy singing! I have sung since I was a little girl, and try to keep it up. I spend my free time recording songs, and editing simple music videos.. It is just enjoyable for me, and it is one other way in which I give back what little talent I might have. I enjoy watching 'do it yourself' craft and beauty videos on youtube . Lately, I have been learning how to cook Healthy Peruvian food, and began a ketogenic way of eating. I would love to hear about you, your educational goals, and extra curricular interests. I look forward to meeting you!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I go by what the student feels is his or her goal. We focus on the topics and subjects that need the most attention. I like to teach with a light-hearted approach, making sure the client is comfortable providing feedback to ensure a successful learning experience.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

We discuss his or her motives for seeking tutoring. What is important for him or her. We discuss which approach we will take, we select the materials we will use, and discuss preferences of learning style and scheduling.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

If the client has the time for homework, assignments are provided so that they can execute the acquired knowledge on their own. Also, supplemental materials and practice are encouraged, and questions can always be answered.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

When we meet for the first time, we will have discussed what is truly important for each of them. Every day before we start our new lesson we will review what will be the focus of that particular day, which is in line with their ultimate goal. I think, reminding them of why we are working hard during class, is what will keep them going. Of course, positive reinforcement and encouragement are incredibly positive for the student as well.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Try a different approach of explaining the material. Utilize resources such as different examples, from different books, the internet or perhaps even email them a YouTube link that they can review.

如何帮助学生在r是谁eading comprehension?

Patience. No one is proficient, especially in the beginning. It takes real sacrifice and practice. There are techniques that can help with reading comprehension, such as strategizing one's reading, or decoding the structure and purpose of a text. With different examples, and daily practice, any struggling student can be motivated by their own progress.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Getting to hear about their interests and motivations. This gives me direction for our lessons. Also, many times I also find myself invested in seeing them achieve their goals...pass the test, improve a score, loosen up and practice a foreign language when out and about.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

Well, I would first want to know what exactly they do get, and where the knowledge gaps are so that we can remediate those with some reviews and step by step demonstration. After understanding, we would work on exercises and finally the student should demonstrate the ability to navigate the subject/topic with ease.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Return demonstration is one of the best ways to ensure understanding of material. I would encourage the student to explain back to me the concept he or she was struggling with, and I would anticipate that they also won't have trouble with exercises related to the material.
