What is your teaching philosophy?
Every student can and wants to learn, and because everyone is unique, the teacher must work toward the strengths of the student and their learning styles to be able to unlock the student's learning potential.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
In the first session, I like to get to know my client, so that I can understand how they learn, what their interests are, and how better to help them achieve their goals.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
When a student has difficulty with a skill or concept, I try to break it down to a step-by-step problem solving process, as well as relating it to something that is present in their world, so that they can develop their own unique understanding of the concept.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I build a student's confidence in a subject by helping them understand how to master concepts, work through the material with them, then let them work it out on their own. Through this guided process, I have found a lot of success in helping students develop confidence in different areas of study.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would give the student lots of positive reinforcement to encourage them to keep trying, and celebrate their successes to keep them feeling positive.
