The student and I focused on Earth Science this session, we created a power point based upon the geological time line. Also, we wrote a discussion entry regarding the theory of evolution and completed a journal entry. The student has wonderful grades and worked very hard.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Janiece in Memphis, TN
学生的主要担忧会话tonight was her math homework, which consists of another packet, her scientific paper about her plant, and preparing for her test on the book, "Animal Farm." We looked over her math homework, which was mostly multiplying and dividing terms with exponents but she was confident she could do it on her own. So, we agreed on devoting one hour to her paper and one hour to her test. With that, we dug our heels into her science paper. I simply acted as a sounding board and when necessary, assisted her with stating what she wanted to state in a clear, concise sentence. She is very good on her own and I only assisted her with a couple of sentences. A little later, I also clarified that she DID need to include each section heading in the paper, i.e. TITLE, INTRODUCTION, METHODS AND MATERIALS, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, CONCLUSIONS, and REFERENCES. She got the majority of her paper done and was confident she could finish the rest on her own. We switched gears and got to work preparing for her test on "Animal Farm." Shortly after discussing what the book is about and getting into some character analysis, the student realized we needed to make flashcards and promptly got some for us. She recited while I wrote, and in the end, we had a stack of cards listing all the characters and who or what they represent.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Richard in Memphis, TN
我很高兴看到学生上升到一个新的level of motivation and organization. This is what I mean by that; we reviewed her 4 classes. Steady improvement in all areas. She also reported being 'current' with all class assignments and showed me a color-coding chart and process she is now using that organizes her work based upon most immediate assignments. She clearly was pleased with the effort she has been exerting the past 10 days and the increase in her grades. I am, too. Her parents are pleased. The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and her current efforts reflect an awareness of that fact. She is now capable of using her study and organizational skills to complete the year in a much more favorable position than when we began working together in January. I am pleased for her growth and efforts along with her parents' support.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Colleen in Memphis, TN
学生让我吃惊,他年级切ck to view his grades. We talked about achieving the best grade possible in all his classes. History is still going at the same pace with multiple in-class projects and 3 homework assignments each week. The final will take place the first week of June. We finished one homework assignment.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Mary Jean in Memphis, TN
Student 1 wanted to review history homework, and then he began working on a PowerPoint project over Ephesians for his religion class. He completed his half of the project and his class partner is doing the other half. Next he practiced his presentation. I reminded him to not simply read off of the screen and to add additional explanations and clarifications. To finish out the session, he wanted to work on reorganizing his binder. Student 2 had an upcoming English paper over Treasure Island. He had already written a thesis statement and three supporting arguments, and had already chosen quotes from the text. Using writing guides provided by his teacher, he was able to write an introduction and the first topic paragraph. I helped him brainstorm and edit for clarity and grammar. He has a good start.
