I will be receiving a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from Mount Holyoke College this spring; additionally, I have an International Baccalaureate Diploma, and am thus well-versed in IB subjects and the expectations of IB teachers and test-graders alike. Concurrent to my pursuit of an IB Diploma, I also studied many AP courses and can therefore aid in AP material, too.

As a college student, I have been studying Japanese on an advanced-learning track for four years now, and last year I had the opportunity to live and study in Nagoya, Japan! In Nagoya, I attended Nanzan University and got to experience how Japanese people actually speak, live, and approach the world.

My passion for the subject of Japanese has been a part of my life since I was a child and first discovered Japanese films and T.V. shows. My love for teaching, however, came to be when I interned as a Teaching Assistant in high school and was able to grow close with my students. Watching students grow and come to master the course material, as well as learning from the students themselves, are my absolute favorite parts of teaching. I am devoted to being there for whatever any students may need!

Hobbies

Currently, I am reading Japanese short stories, and I like to translate them into English sometimes so that my friends who do not speak Japanese can enjoy them as well! Additionally, I write fiction stories whenever I have the chance, as well as some poetry. In my free time I love to read (books and manga alike!) and perhaps watch a Japanese/Korean drama or two. I am a staunch supporter of watching things in Japanese in order to improve pronunciation (and just because it's fun, too); as of right now, my favorite drama is My Dangerous Wife! If you are looking to improve language acquisition through fun, engaging media, I have many suggestions and tips to give.
