I'm passionate about helping students work through their challenges. I enjoy witnessing a child smile because they actually understand their work.

I have worked with students on all educational levels for over 8 years. I completed my Undergrad (B.S. Child Development) at Florida State University and my Masters (Social Work) from Barry University. Im currently finishing up my Dissertation and will have completed my Doctorate in Education in Fall 2017.

I tutor math, reading, science, and study skills. My favorite subject to tutor is math because it challenges me to think outside the box. My tutoring style is stern but compassionate. I am fun, comical, and encouraging. I believe that any student can achieve anything they put their minds to. Sometimes they just need a little help.

My interests are: basketball, singing, and video games.

Find out more about the student and their concerns. Give a joke or three.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Provide scenarios for the student to think critically and problem solve.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Complement efforts, and assist with refocusing.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Break down the concept into understandable parts, and explain at a level the child can understand.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Assist students by making stories "real." Allow them to create and take part in developing stories and understanding the main points.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Consistency, encouragement, and compassion.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

Find out what the students likes are, and relate the subject matter to their likes.

Participatory examples and technology.

By assisting them with answering questions correctly. Start easy, and build from that point.
