My teaching philosophy is inspired by my academic and employment experiences in the world of business and management. As a college graduate, I benefited from schools that taught the importance of applying information to the workplace. Working as a college professor has given me numerous opportunities help students connect the classroom to real life. I have taught various subjects that have empowered my students to excel in understanding, Math, Science, History, Business, Psychology, Reading, and Writing. My work experience showed me that many students are not taught how to truly interact with the people in their work environment. This gap inspired me to infuse the importance of diversity and communication in every course that I teach. My students are not just book smart, they also learn how to communicate with co-workers, classmates, and individuals in their personal lives. Students in my experience really want to know, "Will I ever use my academic information in the real world?"

Today's student has to adapt to communicating with different people from various backgrounds. This is important for students in general. Here are my primary objectives for any course I teach or tutor to reinforce my dedication to learning, communication, and diversity:

目标1:帮助学生理解而作tance of their course- When students are not sure why they are taking a course, it becomes easier to skip class or drop out of school all together. I communicate to students that courses I teach or tutor are designed to provide real information and activities that should be used in the real world. Students who attend consistently will have greater interaction with the professor and classmates. This objective is the key to staying connected to classroom material.

Objective 2: Create an environment where the least successful students can thrive- I apply principles of empowerment to my students. They are given opportunities to professionally express their points of view. Personality differences and various life experiences influence diverse points of view. Participation is higher in my classroom and tutoring settings when diverse levels of understanding are allowed to be expressed in discussions and activities. My analogy for students is that the tutoring session or the classroom is a gym. This is a place to practice the skills that will be demonstrated in the workplace or academic environment. Most importantly, students are more comfortable with making mistakes in my courses. I create an atmosphere where mistakes can be corrected by the student through revision of writing assignments. My open door policy allows students to discuss why points were deducted from assignments.

Objective 3: Create fun ways to engage the learning process- I believe that lesson planning and curriculum development are extremely important skills for educators. My goal is to use fun critical thinking activities to engage learning. These activities are structured. After the fun is over, I demonstrate to students how the activity is connected with their current or future school/workplace environment. When learning is fun, students enjoy the actual process of learning.

Some of my personal hobbies include, listening to music, writing, as well as audio/video production. I enjoy watching movies. Sometimes I attempt to connect students' favorite songs or movies to the information that we are learning.

Q & A

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I attempt to understand what a student knows about the subject. I also attempt to understand how the student feels about the subject matter. One of the most important things I learn is if the student learns through movement, seeing visuals, real-world examples, etc. Finally, I attempt to find real-life examples that make the subject easier to understand.
