I'm a Master's student at the Graduate School - Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai getting my degree in Biomedical Sciences. I received my undergraduate degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in Biomedical Sciences. My ultimate goal is to become an Orthopedic Surgeon with the hopes of opening my own practice. My hope is that through tutoring I am able to inspire students to love the subjects as much as I do. Learning should not only be informative, but fun as well.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe teaching should be fun for everyone involved. Instructors should have a passion for what they are teaching. It is my hope that, as a teacher, I am able to pass on that same enthusiasm that drives me to every one of my students.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would first ask them what is the most interesting thing they have learned in that subject thus far. Then I would ask them to explain what they are having trouble connecting with. After assessing the students knowledge on the subject, I would develop a course of action to bring the student up to speed with their school work.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

One of the biggest hurdles in learning is building confidence in the subject. I would do my best to build the student's confidence level from the start. My hope is that they no longer need assistance with the subject after working with me.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Motivation and "fun" have a linear relationship. As such, I would do my very best to keep each lesson fun and have the student engaged.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Try and relate it to a topic that is extremely relatable and likable.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Relatability. This is key to making connections between abstract concepts and real-world examples.
