My mom was a teacher so teaching is probably in my genes! I have been a Registered Nurse for most of my life. A huge part of what RNs do is teach. We teach patients, families, staff, students, each other, and so forth. I love what I call that "A-Ha moment"-- when a student expresses understanding of what I am I teaching them. I taught in a Diploma RN program, at an online university program, and many other formal and informal teaching assignments.

I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. My Master of Science Degree in Health Services Administration was awarded from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.

I am available to tutor in Epidemiology, Medicine, NCLEX, Nursing, Pharmacology, and Professional Certifications. My favorite of these topics to tutor as well as to study is epidemiology. As one of my students told me as I was explaining epidemiology to her, "sounds like a perfect topic for a nerdmeister like you." I also enjoy teaching Nursing and Pharmacology.

My teaching philosophy is basic. I try to assess the needs and learning style of the student and then provide teaching in a format that most meets their needs. Generally, my style is informal with a focus on student engagement. While I especially like facilitating learning, I expect students to be actively involved in the process.

When I am not teaching I am a school nurse looking after about 900 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at a Fine Arts, Dual Language Junior High School. I have a wonderful husband and two lovely basset hounds. In my free time, I knit, crochet, make soap, and other personal care items.
