I'm a seasoned teacher (19 years) who is passionate about making learning engaging and fun, and equipping students with effective tools to gain mastery of material. I've taught at the middle school, high school, and college freshman levels--public, private, and university settings--throughout my career. I earned my BA from Colorado College in History/Political Science and a Masters (MA) in History from Brown University, and am enthusiastic to tutor strong essay writing, written fluency, killer college application essays, grammar, and history and politics at the middle school, high school, and college level.

Tutoring, whether to strengthen writing or review formulas and functions, has to involve elements of creativity to capture students' imagination. In my classroom and tutoring kids, I aim to teach making a personal connection with students and tapping into their skills to retain and enjoy the material. Effective tutoring is my heart.

I have three college-aged kids, so I know the challenges and "adventure" of teen and undergrad years. I hope through tutoring with me in some small way I can be a positive influence. When I'm not teaching, I love hiking, running, reading good books, and teaching in Colorado Springs.
