I love helping students to learn new things! For me, this passion stretches back years. In Middle and High School I volunteered with an extended school- year program for students with developmental and learning disabilities. This is where I picked up techniques and skills to help students overcome academic challenges. I loved this work and decided to continue it throughout my career. I chose to attend the University of Pittsburgh to gain Psychology and History undergraduate degrees, and am now returning to pursue my Occupational Therapy Doctorate. In college, I continued to pursue this passion for working with students both as a volunteer and in paid capacities. As a volunteer, I worked with students from refugee communities, and was paid to virtually tutor students during the height of the pandemic. I love working through problems and concepts slowly with students and including lots of real world examples to keep students engaged and applying material to their daily lives. I especially love teaching about History and English, as I feel this is a great opportunity to incorporate real life contexts. However, I also appreciate teaching Math and watching as students go from perplexed about new complex concepts, to reaching a clear understanding as they apply mathematical concepts to new problems. I am so excited to meet new students and work through new problems!
