I am a graduate of the University of New Mexico. I received my Masters of Science in Mathematics with an emphasis on scientific computing and mathematical physics. Since graduation, I have mostly worked as a college professor. I have stepped back from full-time teaching to have a more flexible schedule. I tutor all levels of mathematics, specializing in College Algebra, Introductory Statistics and Probability, Trigonometry, and Calculus. My experience with students has varied with my institution of employment. When I was at University, I really enjoyed helping Engineering students get out of their Physics and Calculus classes and into their respective Engineering programs because I could relate to their passion and was able to help them get over common stumbling blocks. My time at Community College was very different, where I encountered students struggling to get their basic credits out of the way just so they could go on into a non-technical field (such as Business or Nursing). In that situation, I was able to meet the students where they were at and help them to develop an appreciation for mathematics that they might not have had previously. I believe that knowledge is power, and a key to unlocking your true potential. Outside of mathematics, I like to hack around with Slackware Linux, spend a lot of time in nature, and research sustainable housing technologies.
