Welcome! I am a PhD level biologist and currently a postdoctoral fellow at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. In my postdoc, I am using zebrafish to understand why patients with melanoma don't always respond to therapy. I completed my PhD in Cell &; Molecular Biology at the Van Andel Research Institute and University of Pennsylvania. Prior to my PhD, I completed a Master of Science in Biochemistry at Colorado State University. I have completed numerous college and post-graduate science courses, including cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, and cancer biology. In addition, I have been an adjunct instructor for general biology and a teaching assistant for two upper-level science courses (epigenetic and biochemistry).

In a typical session, I start with a review of the material to be discussed and end by working with the students to solve problem sets and exam questions. My teaching philosophy is built on allowing the student to take the lead and helping the student develop effective strategies in order to succeed in the classroom.

While a lot of my time is spent with the fishes, outside of the lab I enjoy spending with my two cats and deaf border collie - typically on the couch watching true crime or the Food Network. In addition, as an Alaskan, I love being outside and taking adventures with my husband.
