Hello! My name is Noah Damiani, and I want to take this opportunity to share a little about myself to give you a better idea of my passions, interests, and work ethic. I am currently finishing the last course of my undergraduate career at the University of Miami, and I plan to graduate with my degree in business economics next semester. I have been accepted to the University of Miami School of Law as I plan to pursue my juris doctorate over the next few years.
Throughout my undergraduate and professional career, I have become extremely acquainted with business, namely accounting. I am currently working full-time as an accounting manager at a medical consulting distribution company. I am also quite strong in Mathematics and have expertise in Applied Mathematics (linear regressions), Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Analytical number theory (Pre-Calculus and Calculus). I also have a broad background in the natural sciences, including biology. There are a number of other courses that I have expertise in which I would love to share with you if given the opportunity.
I have approximately 3 years of tutoring experience. I was apart of a mentorship program in high school in which I was tasked with assisting students who struggled with their curriculum. I have also tutored acquaintances throughout college over the years. I am impassioned in my belief that the institution of education serves a vital role not only in advancing society, but also in the ability to better one's future. That is the main reason that I have taken an appreciation for tutoring. I, myself, have greatly benefitted from getting tutored. And I feel obligated to pass on my knowledge if given the opportunity to do so.
My tutoring style is one of structure and practice. While it will depend on the subject being taught, a general tutor session would consist of reviewing short practice problems assigned to students in a previous session to figure out where their weaknesses are and to address them. I would then move onto the next lesson, keeping pace with their school curriculum or whatever study schedule they are on for a standardized exam. I will provide supplementary materials such as practice problems and notes for students to refresh upon later on. I view tutoring as an extension of the classroom, so I plan to teach the material in a way that incorporates similar strategies to those taught in school. In order to ensure students are motivated in reaching their goals of academic success, I always encourage them for their progress. I will never fault or blame a student for their lack of understanding, but I would instead try to figure out where the source of confusion is coming from.
Outside of tutoring, work, and school, I am usually taking my dog on walks or going to the beach. Though I like to keep myself busy with my academic and professional life, I still enjoy trying new things and going new places.
It is my hope that you were able to get a good idea of who I am, my expertise, and my strategies for tutoring. Thank you for taking the time to read through my statement, and I look forward to working with you!
