I graduated from Christopher Newport University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. My childhood dream was to teach children and be a mom. I possess a passion for equipping children of all ages with skills to empower them for excellence. I have over 13 years experience in tutoring/teaching English grammar, phonics, beginner readers, math computation, writing composition and parsing sentences. Each child possesses a unique skill set, and I desire to understand each student through listening and relating well. Validating a student's individual learning style empowers him/her, as well as provides me an adequate method to teach challenging skills which will result in overall success. After homeschooling my daughters for the past 11 years, I have experimented with countless techniques to meet their individual needs. As an Administrative Assistant at Sylvan Learning Center, I administered new student assessments, as well as taught students once enrolled. The students ranged in age from kindergarten to 12th grade.
