What do you love? Let's find out! How do you learn best? Let's try some stuff! No supplies? What do you have around the house?
I love to solve problems, figure things out, remember things, and learn.
I have attended several different institutions of higher learning, graduating with my BFA at Portland State University in Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking.
Having curiosity about a great deal of subjects, I took classes in nursing, music, biology, finance, business, fine art, sculpting, printmaking, physics, math, language arts, creative writing, chemistry.... well a lot of stuff. This world is full of fascinating things that are all connected. When I started, I just couldn't pick which one was my favorite. I decided that my favorite was learning.
I enjoy teaching for three primary reasons. You, Discovery, and that magic moment where how to learn meets what you learned.
I'm not a complicated person. Tell me what you need and we'll work with that. I don't require a lot of supplies, unless you're curious about a certain material or method.
I have worked in just about every medium there is for design art. Oil paints, acrylics, mixed media, pen, pencil, printmaking, drawing, and a ton of applicable programs to go along with it. When it comes to 3D design, I've made metal, clay, mixed media, resin, epoxy, wood and other various constructions. Honestly, the world is full of art supplies. We can definitely find something around the house to learn with.
I'm most passionate about "Now" and "Let's Find Out." Both philosophies that have granted me a LOT of fun, art shows, experiences, friends, and super fun time making art.
Academia is a side passion of mine that segues directly into what I make with art, cooking, music, sculpture, and social statements. I have been using study as a foundation for all of the other things I do. It's important. I only understood certain art movements when I had mimicked them, as well as the food that was cooked at the time. I'ts pretty fun to play an afternoon as Tamara De Lempicka. (Look her up, she's pretty awesome.)
I look forward to finding out what you love!
