I am a graduate of Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, where I obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH). Previously, I had been a verbal SAT, PSAT, SSAT, ISEE and GRE Senior Tutor working for Inspirica, Inc. in Manhattan. I loved the job. I tutored in the New York City area, as well as nationally and internationally.
I was promoted to Senior Tutor because my students had the highest overall score increases, as compared to the students taught by my fellow verbal tutors. As a Senior Tutor, I taught newly hired tutors the best strategies to help their students achieve the best possible score results. There's nothing better than to see a student achieve scores higher than they had initially imagined. I am also a very accomplished writer. I can help to brainstorm and edit a college application essay, a master's thesis, or a dissertation.
As a standardized test tutor, I have an interactive tutoring style. Once I teach the strategies I usually don't answer content questions, but instead, I ask a lot of questions to encourage my students to think for themselves. I always remind them that I will not be there on test day. That said, it's very important for me to be a supportive, fun, and engaging teacher. I look forward to tutoring sessions and try my best to make sure that my students do as well.
Since receiving my MPH, I have been writing a full-length musical The Moving Sky. I have been a professional, published songwriter for a long time and it gives me great joy. In addition, I enjoy swimming, playing trivia games, being outside, and watching foreign films. I'm also a member of Mensa.
