I am a current master's student at the University of Colorado at Boulder, studying electrical engineering with a focus on embedded systems and sensors. I received my undergraduate degree in Engineering Design, also called Creative Technologies and Design, from CU Boulder. For the past year and a half I have been teaching students all about electronics and circuitry both on a technical level, where we complete calculations on current flows, inductance, torque, etc., as well as the human-facing design side, where we use those technical skills to make our world a little more fun, useful, or efficient. I have taught math, science, and technology concepts to students as young as 1st grade, and as old as middle-aged graduate students. I have found that working with students can be very rewarding, and helping someone achieve confidence in math, science, or technology skills is an exciting achievement. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching students is watching the spark of inspiration or understanding kick on and watching them fully grasp a concept they were struggling on before. While I have experience tutoring a lot of different subjects, I enjoy tutoring science and technology classes the most, especially if they revolve around electronics. I have found a good pedagogical balance through my years of experience tutoring that guide my philosophy and style and revolve around both analogies and solving/understanding the smaller chunks of a larger problem. Outside of academia I love science and electronics, building, fixing, and reverse-engineering robots, hiking and mountain biking, designing and fabricating special devices including tools, toys, or works of art, and acquiring new skills ranging from welding and wood-working to graphic design.
