I enjoy tutoring math and statistics. I am retired from a career of using those tools in a wide variety of applications.

My approach to tutoring is to help the student to relax and look over the different aspects of a problem. Somewhere deep in the student's mind, there are usually ideas about how to approach a problem. It is the tutor's function to bring those ideas out and put them into practice. The guidance of the tutor should do more than just show the solution of a particular problem. It should teach the student how to think about problems of that nature. I try to teach the manner of thinking needed for a subject.

The tutor must also simply present some concepts and directly answer questions. I like to use at least two explanations for each concept, because it is difficult to know which explanation will most appeal to a student.

My experience tutoring started when I was in high school, and extends over the years since. I also have experience with lecturing to classes.
