I am a visual artist, art educator and teacher in a variety of subjects. I have earned my BFA in Fine Arts from The Rhode Island School of Design and my M.A. in Education from Seton Hall University. I hold a permanent standard certificate as a Visual art teacher for grades PK-12, and have taught for over 8 years in standard art classrooms.

I am passionate about helping students achieve their best in school and life. I know the value of doing your best in school, passing tests, getting good grades and moving forward with your academic career. I have worked hard in my life to earn my B.F.A, my M.A. in Education, and my teaching certificates. This came with lots of practice in every subject I studied in school. I learned how to take effective notes in class, how to render objects with full value scales, how to skim read passages to look for main topics and increase my comprehension of texts.

As an art major, I followed my passion for art making into a focused academic arena that respected studying visual art at higher levels. While I studied art I was also passionate about Reading, Science, the natural world around me, Creative Writing and more. I want to help students to realize the value in studying more than just their favorite subjects. I realized that by becoming a good writer, a strong test taker, and by honing skills in studying facts in history, I was becoming a thinker. This is what I being a student is supposed to be about. The goal of being any type of teacher is to shape the way students approach learning, rather than to just cram your brain full of facts. There are strategies to help students improve their writing and reading skills, their ability to comprehend math equations, and they stamina for dealing with new vocabulary, or fact based memorization. I have succeeded in passing many standardized tests to gain acceptance into college programs, but I have also succeeded in developing strategies to think effectively about a task at hand.

I am happy to help students who want to learn about ways to improve their own learning. I will not give the answers to students. I will instead try to work with learners to identify areas they can improve their own independent work. I can help students to practice concepts, improve study skills, and master concepts of learning. My main areas of expertise are in Visual Art and English. I have a wealth of creativity and skill based content knowledge to help kids succeed in these creative, ideation based fields. I also enjoy helping students use logic and reasoning to unpack Science issues, Math problems, Social Studies concepts and more. If you are a student who is struggling to engage with some content, or things just don't make sense, I have a ton of patience to join your struggle, and help identify where you can connect more with what you are learning. If I don't know an answer, I am a great researcher, with a lot of experience in finding ways for us to successfully solve a problem your subject asks you to deal with.
