I love helping students learn to be more skilled and confident writers! I believe that writing is like any other behavior that we learn, requiring exposure, instruction, and most importantly practice.
After earning a bachelor's degree in communications and journalism from Washington University in St. Louis, I went on to earn my master's in Teaching of Writing from Southern Illinois University, where I was also certified to Teach English as A Second Language. I have been teaching first-year college composition for 7 years, and really enjoy the opportunity to work one-on-one with students when I tutor. I have also been teaching private English lessons for the two last years.
Outside of academia, I enjoy reading (mostly non-fiction); watching British crime shows, Kdramas, or cooking shows (or any combination of the three); traveling (trying to see all 50 states); and I am currently working on creating a patio in my backyard.
