I am a graduate of the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!). I received my Bachelor's Degree in Family and Human Services within the College of Education. After graduation I packed up my car and drove to Houston, Texas where I have lived for about 9 years. I am a certified EC-6 teacher and in my time in Texas I have taught both 2nd and 3rd grade ESL classes, worked as a Reading Interventionist in a high school, completed over 80 hours of Neuhaus language skill courses, I am most passionate about teaching literacy and foundational reading skills/phonics to people of all ages because I firmly believe every person deserves the best quality of life which has strong ties to education. Not being able to read/comprehend well impacts all facets of learning. I've learned that building relationships is one of the most important things you can do with your students as it impacts effort levels and content mastery and it's important for students to know you care about them. Every student learns differently and I love finding creative ways to help students connect with a subject/skill. Currently I work as a regional admissions counselor at a public university. In my free time I enjoy lifting weights, running, dancing,improving my Spanish and traveling.
