我的名字是珍娜·坎贝尔,我在李的伟大的爱fe is teaching. I have immersed myself in a variety of different teaching roles over the past ten years. Over that time, I have engaged with a multiplicity of pedagogies and practices, and interacted with a diverse population of learners. From this experience, I have been privileged with the opportunity to learn from my students, my colleagues, and my mentors, and have developed from this rich community a teaching practice grounded in these key principles: I believe that learning occurs when the learner is motivated and interested, is best facilitated when the environment is inclusive and respectful, and is both a social and a recursive process. Through these practices, I seek to challenge students to read, write, and research critically, to skillfully implement flexible reading and writing strategies, and to adeptly transfer these skills across contexts. Hopefully, students will also build confidence, celebrate successes, practice addressing struggles, and learn that learning can be fun along the way!

As a graduate of the University of Central Florida's Master's program in Literary, Cultural, and Textual Studies, and the University of South Florida's Bachelor's program in Literary studies, I have been trained extensively in both literary and composition pedagogy. Through a variety of certifications and trainings, such as the Department of Children and Families' Child Care Training Certificate, UCF'S Global Achievement Academy Reading Group, and USF'S Academy for Teaching and Learning Excellence Professional Development Certificate of Distinction, I have continued and extended my scholastic education into specialized areas of inquiry that have prepared me to be the best that I can be for each of my students. I look forward to pursuing further certifications and trainings, such as the TESOL certification. I believe that this multifocal experience and training benefits my students as I incorporate the best from many pedagogical perspectives into my tutoring practices.

Through my teaching experiences, I have worked with a wide range of students, from Preschool children to college students. During my time tutoring and teaching for Kumon Learning Center and Primrose School of Lake Nona, I worked with young students to master the skills of reading and writing, with specializations from composition practices to content comprehension to grammar conventions to summarization and more. During my time teaching Composition I and II at the University of South Florida and the University of Central Florida, I worked with older students and adults to master higher order skills from writing admission essays to research practices to analysis to synthesis to placement tests to literary analysis and beyond. This wide range of students and subject content has prepared me to meet each individual student exactly where they are at in their learning process, and to best facilitate supporting them through achieving their goals. A strong dedication to inclusivity in education has motivated me to incorporate the diverse literate lives of all students into lessons. Often when valuing the out-of-school literate lives of students within sessions, especially considering cultural and linguistic differences in writing practices, they become more confident about their role as learners and are more interested and committed in their learning. For example, PowerPoints, videos, comics, and music have all worked towards a variable, interesting, and inclusive learning space for multiple types of learners. Students who are given agency in their learning feel more invested in and prouder of their achievements, so I offer a variety of opportunities for students to explore areas of their own interest, to engage in a multitude of modalities, and to connect their tutoring sessions to their real world lives. I strive, as a teacher, to be approachable, fair, and challenging, and believe that it is my responsibility to meet my students on an individual level as someone personally invested in their education and future success.

I absolutely love what I do, and it is my favorite part of every day to be a part of my students' learning journey, to see them grow and succeed in their goals. I believe that education is best achieved through a mutual relationship of trust and respect, and I work to earn the trust and respect of my students ever day. I try at all times to demonstrate to my students that they and their education are my highest priority. The teaching philosophy and practices discussed here center around creating an active, dynamic, engaging learning community for all students which best facilitates the development of necessary skills of writing and research that will bolster student success across disciplines. However, good teaching is an active pursuit that involves continuing to learn, develop, and grow in all areas, including personal, professional, and pedagogical aspects, and so I look forward to dedicating myself to this continual practice throughout my career. I hope to bring my love of learning, passion for teaching, and care for my students to future students as I continue my own journey to become the best tutor I can be for you or your child! Thank you for your time!
