我在爱荷华州开始辅导State University as an undergraduate. Many of the students on my residence hall floor were having trouble in preparation for a Calculus I final; so I hosted a tutoring session since I had already passed the course. That was my first experience with tutoring, and since then, I have never looked back. In fact, I enjoy tutoring so much that I changed my major and entered into a teacher certification program at Northern Illinois University. As part of the program, I have tutored students in high school with trigonometry, statistics, reading comprehension, writing, ACT/SAT preparation (all subjects), pre-algebra, algebra I, and advanced algebra. My style of tutoring is to not take on the traditional "lecturer" role, but to allow students to take an active part in their learning. With this style, I help students to reason effectively and to become autonomous life-long learners.
