The student is the most important part in tutoring, so they should always be at the forefront of the lesson plan. I think this way because I am currently a college student hoping to excel. I've tutored kids in maths such as geometry, algebra, pre-cal etc and plan to tutor algebra and pre-cal. I enjoy math because it helps people to understand the world just like science if not better.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

它是关于质量over speed for understanding!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would introduce myself to the student and have them introduce themselves to me. Afterward, we would discuss the problem area.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By letting them make their own mistakes and then helping them correct their errors rather than just telling them how to fix them.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By showing them how far they've come from where they began!

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would have them calm down and then look at the difficulty from a different perspective.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I would have them look at what's the most difficult to understand and then have them look it up so they can see it clearly and learn it.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

I like to try to see from the student's perspective before adding information and confusing the student.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

I would take a hobby of their interest and incorporate it into a lesson.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

I like having them explain how they got the answer in their own words.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

By encouraging them to think of the larger picture and to apply the subject to their daily life.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

By carefully analyzing how they perform and what they excel in.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

By going at the student's pace then gradually speeding so that they can climb the ladder of success at a steady pace.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

Boards, markers, paper, and pencils; I like to incorporate whatever the student can use into the lesson.
