I'm graduated with M.S in Biology and a Graduate Certificate in Genomics from University of Saint Joseph, CT, in 2016. I got my Bachelors in Chemistry and Zoology from Alexandria University in 2006. This is my 5th year tutoring different Biology classes at Varsity tutors. I have 4 years of experience working at the Biology and Chemistry learning center in
Shoreline community college and two years of experience teaching Biology at a private High school. I also volunteer at a biotechnology lab research . I love research and lap work. I also love to learn new skills and I love to encourage and help others learn. My motivation to teach is driven from my passion for learning and my desire to make a change in students life by improving their ability to successfully achieve their goals.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

For me, tutoring is my way of supporting and enlightening individuals to expand their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. I believe in visual learning, so I like to use images, charts and videos, and I also make up models that help in visualizing the idea, instead of just memorizing solid information.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In the first session, I would start with the fundamental information about that subject in order to ensure that the student is aware with all the basic facts before going through the core lessons in details.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I would try to help the student to figure out the clue that helps in improving his/her critical thinking by providing him/her with the different analytical methods that help in solving any problem at any test level.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

To help students stay motivated, I would gradually raise the level of the questions given after each lesson. I would also add an open question in points that are still under research in order to expand students' critical thinking instead of just receiving sold information.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

If the student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, finding an analog form of life that closely resembles the idea or the concept that's hard to be understood as it is would be definitely helpful.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Solving different types of questions during the tutoring session after explaining each concept or lesson would be helpful to be sure that the student understood that particular part of the material before going forward to the next part.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

Solving many quizzes at the end of each tutoring session will make the student feel confident in that subject.
