I value education very highly and love being a part of the learning process for others. I have a degree in Math and a Minor in Statistics and am a strong communicator. I've tutored at the College and High School level and excel in breaking down difficult concepts into understandable pieces. I love working with people towards an academic goal. I have served as a Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry tutor for first year university students as well as a tutor for Spanish speaking students.
I am very flexible and am happy to try and meet your tutoring needs.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is to create an understanding of ideas, not formulas. To actually learn something, you must put in the effort to try to understand it.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a typical first session with a student, I'd like them to get to know me as a person, what I have done and what I hope to help them with. In a first session, I would try to set up a relationship with expectations and guidelines for the student to follow so that they can reach their goals.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I will help a student become an independent learner through the development of critical thinking skills and foundational knowledge of concepts.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

It's incredibly easy to become unmotivated when working with material that is difficult and frustrating. There is always a balance to be found in how much effort is put in with how much output is being seen. If a student is struggling with certain aspects of a problem, we can find ways of working around them so that we are staying productive while slowly addressing an issue.
