Careers in science, technology, engineering and math are highly sought-after these days, and receiving my bachelor's and Ph.D. in chemical engineering, I am aware of all the challenging math and science courses awaiting the would-be scientist or engineer. My goal as a tutor is to empower my students to do theri best in math and science courses. My own experience has exposed me to a wide range of applications of math and science for the students who may need concrete examples of how concepts they're learning are applied. I also think developing rapport with students is conducive to a productive relationship.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Meeting goals, versatility, motivation and encouragement: 1) Above all, a teacher must focus on the needs of a particular student, and work to empower the student to meet their goals. 2) Versatility- when it comes to explaining difficult science and math concepts, it is important to have several different ways to explain them students. 3) Providing motivation beyond getting higher grades and college applications, e.g., an application of a scientific concept to every-day technology. 4) Encouragement for the struggling student is always most effective when sincere, and I do my best to be relatable and build rapport with students.
