Growing up in a family of four children, giving and getting help has always been an integral part of daily life. When I was younger, I would often ask my older sister for homework help, just as my younger brother and sister would ask me for help a few years down the line. In this sense, I have been tutored and tutoring for as long as I can remember, meaning I have a strong understanding of what it is like to be on both sides of the relationship. I know what types of feedback to ask for from my students, and how to apply this feedback to my tutoring in order to tailor it to the individual student's needs.
On top of that, I genuinely enjoy tutoring. I love helping someone realize their full potential after guiding them through a challenging problem; I love putting energy into something beyond myself, and seeing that energy spark a positive change for others. The whole process of tutoring is inspiring and enjoyable, and I design it so that my students feel the same.

Tutoring Subjects

Q & A

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

People get excited about subjects when they can relate to them. I would help a student become engaged with a topic by making it apply to his or her own life and interests.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Role reversal: I would make them the teacher and myself the student, and ask them to explain the concepts to me as though I did not understand them.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I help motivate a student by ensuring them that everyone struggles with difficult topics, and that struggling is a necessary stop on the path to understanding.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Effective teachers are encouraging and do their best to make the learning experience fun for their students.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

我克et to know my student better, particularly to try and get a feel for what type of learning they most enjoy.
