I enjoy playing video games such as Skyrim, Dragon Age, an Stardew Valley, playing D&D, and doing puzzles.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I'd tell them a little about myself and like to hear about them in return, ask what they're hoping to gain and get particular help with, and then hop into tutoring once we're both ready.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Giving examples of practical applications and where what they're learning is used. A lot of times, for math, students feel that what they're learning is pointless and not often used, which isn't the case. While they might not realize it, it's everywhere and they probably use it inadvertently.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Take it step by step, try to break it down easier, or explain it in a different way while still getting to the same meaning.
