What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe it is important to motivate all students to want to learn regardless of their abilities and desires.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know the students by telling them something about me and asking about them. I would find out what motivates them and what their favorite and least favorite subjects are.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I will teach the students how to go about solving a problem or doing a task, by modeling. I will then allow them time to practice independently.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would play games throughout my sessions and have them work for something they really like.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would model it in a simpler way. I would relate it to their lives and try to find something that interests them to explain it in terms of that.
如何帮助学生在r是谁eading comprehension?
I model how to read; I then allow them to read it. I would model good reading strategies such as reading the question, summarizing, highlighting, and crossing out answers that they do not feel it could be.
你发现什么策略最successful when you start to work with a student?
Modeling, Prompting, Motivation.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would find something that relates to them and make the subject interesting in that way.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I would play games in order to assess them. I would give them plenty of independent examples so I could collect data on their understanding.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I would find out what they have a difficult time with using a pre-assessment, model the work, have them do independent work, and play a game in order to build their confidence.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
I evaluate their needs through games, conversations, and independent practice.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I adapt tutoring by finding information on their ability level. I also find work based on their interests.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
The student's textbook and information I’ve found.
