在我的生活我有看着障碍,problem solving challenges. Ultimately, when it comes to academics, we are learning new ways of thinking, logic, and the means to solve problems. At times those methodologies seem foreign to us due to their approach. Finding alternative approaches helps us all in moving forward, assimilating information, and mastering problems. I aim to arm those that I work with many tools in their approach to a given subject matter. These tools can be applied throughout the curriculum and further into the future.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I don't look at tutoring as teaching per se. This opportunity for a student is about problem solving and arming the learner with alternate means, approaches and tools to achieve a goal.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Identifying with the subject matter, needs, workload, and current approach, and then clarifying the goal, as well as what is necessary for success.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

The best way to become an independent learner is to identify within yourself strengths and weaknesses in order to use both to the best of your abilities. Adding strengths and improving weaknesses only add to those abilities.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Breaking workloads into small, easily attainable goals is the easiest manner to achieve success. Success is the key motivator.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Changing the approach, find an adjoining skill, or going around the problem. Then come back later for better understanding.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Vocabulary is the number one component. Boosting vocab first, then looking at sentence structure, and the message.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Working in a partnership rather than a directive relationship is much better.
