I'm a Colorado native and a graduate of Colorado State University. I graduated in 2013 with two degrees in Business Marketing and Spanish, with honors and summa cum laude distinction. During my college career, I studied abroad in Spain and Chile. After I graduated, I earned a certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and moved independently to Nicaragua, where I lived for one year, teaching English and working with US high school students. Some of my passions include traveling, art, yoga, horseback riding, seeing live music, and speaking Spanish.

I wish I could still be a student! I am a dedicated learner and I believe education is super important. I have worked with children, high school students, and adults, and I think you'll find that I am a very relatable person. Languages are very intriguing to me and it fascinates me how two different languages can vary so much - that's what makes it so confusing. I have a lot of experience studying and learning Spanish, and I'm dedicated to helping you learn in a way that makes sense to you since we all have individual learning styles. I look forward to helping you reach your goals with whatever subject you need!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that everything should be communicated in multiple ways, so that each type of learner can understand at his or her own pace. I want to help you figure it out on your own, instead of just telling you the answer!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In our first session, I think it's important to get to know each other well so that we are able to work together better. I want to know what your learning style is to help find the best way for you to improve. I also want you to get to know me and develop trust with each other. I would also like to find out where you are struggling and what your expectations are. Our first session will be focused on 1) getting to know each other and 2) defining learning goals.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I will help you stay motivated by encouraging you and providing real-life anecdotes to make you think outside of the box about your current situation.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

If you are having trouble with a certain concept, we will spend as much time as we need to make sure you understand it. The most efficient way to do this is to try different methods and see which one works best for you.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

I would help build confidence by providing praise and motivation.
