I obtained my BA in History from the Honors College at the University at Buffalo and a Masters Degree in Education from D'Youville College. I am finishing my certification in E-Learning from George Mason University. I have nearly a decade of experience tutoring students with seven years of full-time teaching experience at all ranges of skill, need and interest. I tutor all levels of history, political science and economics and have taught such courses at all levels. I have a particular interest in tutoring economics but welcome all students in my areas of tutoring.

My tutoring style is learner-centered and rooted in forming good working relationships with the student. My goal is to raise the bar of excellence for every student pursuant to an approach that fits the needs of each student as opposed to a one size fits all approach. As for interests outside of tutoring, teaching and education, I am a big fan of movies, exercise and the outdoors.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Teach the student you have, not the one you might want or think you have.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know them, their interests and their reason for seeking assistance.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Provide support, but force them to devise a plan and take ownership for their success.
