I am a Mechanical Engineering student at Seattle Pacific University, and I love to help others grasp challenging concepts. I enjoy filling in gaps in students' understanding as well as working with students who are new to a subject. In the past, I have worked with students on a variety of mathematics subjects such as: algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. I am confident I can help students grasp just about any math concept. I have always had a drive to understand things completely and this has has helped me develop a comprehensive understanding of high school and early college mathematics and physics. Mathematics and physics are my favorite subjects to tutor because I appreciate the consistent logic that is fundamental to these to these topics. I am confident I can help any student grasp difficult math concepts.

I take a systematic, analytical approach to most effectively and efficiently improve the mathematic and/or scientific ability of my clients. In doing this, I follow a four-step process:
1) identify the specific, problematic concepts
2) develop teaching strategies tailored to the student's age level and personality
3) work through the concepts with the student
4) use continuous check-ins to make sure the student is truly learning the material, making appropriate changes to my teaching style when necessary.

Outside of academics, I love to be creative and to exercise outdoors. Crochet and writing are two of my favorite creative activities. Also, as a result of my participation in band and choir throughout high school, I like to listen to, learn, and write music. Lastly, I love to bike and swim. Whether it is a short ride to the river or a 300-mile ride to the Oregon coast, biking satisfies my inner desire for freedom, and the destination often involves a cool place to dive in.
