What is your teaching philosophy?
My philosophy is always to adapt to the student. Some understand immediately, while others need explanations in different contexts. I will do whatever helps the student learn better.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
A typical first session would involve assessing their current knowledge so I can either fill in the gaps or build on that foundation.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Students stay motivated when they enjoy something. I will always try to relate what we are going over to something they like or are familiar with to keep them interested.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Practice makes perfect, but sometimes it helps to explain something in a new way. Just saying the same thing over and over won't help understanding.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Most students respond well to analogies. So any concept I'm trying to convey, I try to relate to something they already know and understand.
你将如何帮助学生获得兴奋/ w订婚吗ith a subject that they are struggling in?
A lot of the time, students are not excited by subjects because they're either hard or boring. To fix boredom, I tell them the coolest, most interesting information about the subject to pique their interest. As for difficulty, the more a student learns and understands, the more motivated they get to learn more.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
At the end of a session, I try to do a quick review to make sure what we discussed sunk in.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Always praise a student for little advancements and victories. When they get something wrong, explain what parts of their thinking were wrong and fix them, as opposed to just telling them they're wrong flat out.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
We discuss what they feel comfortable with. Most students know where they have difficulty. Other than that, I ask them foundational questions they should be able to answer.
你如何适应辅导学生的不eds?
Adaptability is my main goal. Everyone learns differently, so I try to figure out what helps information stick, and then I continue tutoring in that fashion.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I typically use the student's materials to keep their knowledge all together physically. Anything extra I usually get online.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Students who are excited by their subjects are motivated to do independent study. My goal is to get everyone excited by learning.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Reading comprehension comes with practice. Most fiction and nonfiction have an arc to them, so once you become familiar with that broad outline, comprehension gets easier.
