Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I have always loved languages and communicating. In my opinion, communication is the key to building strong relations and to be successful. When I teach or tutor, I emphasize the importance of the excellent communication and interaction with the students. I think I have excellent Interpersonal skills to communicate and interact with the student, and these skills make me a great tutor.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I ask the students about their interests in general, and their goals regarding the language level they want to achieve.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can help a student become an independent learner by encouraging them to find different ways and sources to practice what they learn.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would help a student by being focused, having goals, and acknowledging their achievements.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would make concrete examples and organize real-life examples.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I would bring them interesting materials to motivate them to read more.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

The most successful strategy is engaging the students in the lesson and developing a plan according to their needs.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

I would organize the teaching in an interactive way, bringing into the lesson different resources and games.

Giving them the chance to practice what they learn.

我evaluate a student's needs by asking them about their goals and what they want to achieve in the language they want to learn.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

Depending on the student's need, I would adapt the teaching materials. I.e. If the student needs German for academics, I would focus on writing and reading and grammar. If the student needs German for communication only, like going for a trip to Germany, etc., I would bring this student dialogs and materials where they can learn everyday language. If the student needs German for business, I would bring them materials that have business language, i.e. how to communicate in the office with colleagues, typical business expressions in general, etc.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

I use training materials for the German language.
