I am a Ph.D. candidate in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Quantitative Methods, meaning I study statistics in psychological research. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduation I moved to New York City and continued my studies in Psychology, receiving a Master of Arts in Psychology from Pace University and a Master of Philosophy in Educational Psychology from The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. I have taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in both psychology and education with my primary class being Statistics for Psychology Majors, where I taught undergraduate psychology students the theory and application of introductory statistics along with the computer program SPSS. Outside of the classroom, I have worked as a statistics consultant assisting clients from a variety of fields on projects that included help with study design, data collection, data processing, analysis, interpretation, and written report of the findings. As a consultant I have additionally worked with graduate students providing assistance in dissertation analysis and tutoring for advanced level statistics courses. My own coursework has included an extensive study of different quantitative methodology, such as Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), Hierarchical Linear Modeling (HLM), General Linear Modeling (GLM), Meta-Analysis, Bayesian Statistics, and more. I have experience with a number of analytic programs including SPSS, R, M-Plus, WinBugs, HLM, and Lisrel. In my own research, I am interested in methods for analyzing intensive longitudinal data collected in a digital gaming environment. More simply, I investigate the appropriate quantitative methods for analyzing data collected in research on the efficacy of video games as an educational tool. Through this I combine my personal love of gaming with my work, creating a marriage of my passions. Aside from video games, I am an animal lover and volunteer in animal rescue, an artist, and a big fan of college basketball and professional baseball.
