The student and I organized a writing strategy for his essay. We went so far as to draft an outline together for the paper. The student's teacher is requiring him to include quotations, so we also reviewed how to incorporate and cite quotations in an MLA style paper.

学生有一个测试在周二,所以我们花了蒂姆e reviewing the material that will be on the test. We reviewed adding and subtracting matrices, multiplying matrices, finding the determinant, and using Cramer's rule to solve two or more variable systems. She understands the concepts and is making fewer errors as she gets used to always using the calculator. We both left the session feeling like she will do well on her test.

German Tutoring review by Ben in Los Angeles, CA
We covered the problems that I had assigned as homework to practice for the math portion of her SAT this weekend. All of the problems were linked to tricks that SAT math questions usually have so as to prepare the student to pay attention and formulate an answer. We discussed a few techniques in the actual taking of the test. Afterwards we covered a few problems from the review that her teacher gave her for their test next Monday. I feel that she will be very well prepared for that test as long as she does her flashcard identity memorization exercises as homework.

German Tutoring review by Alexandra in Los Angeles, CA
The student and I began by talking about timing and her need to remain calm and develop a steady pace. We went over some strategies for speeding up and what her overall goals should be for reading a passage (under 4 minutes) and answering the questions (6 minutes). We completed four passages during our review. Passage 1 was completed in 17:39 and she scored 1/7. Passage 2 she completed in 16:02 and she scored 4/7. Passage 3 she completed in 10:13 and she scored 3/5. Passage 4 she completed in 16:11 and she scored 4/6. Realistically, she needs to aim for 10 minutes a passage, with occasionally allowing 11 minutes since our overall strategy includes "skipping" the seventh passage so she can focus on six. At the end of the session we went over three main goals: 1. Read in four minutes. 2. Ask herself what are the main ideas of the passage before starting the questions. 3. Completing the questions in 6 minutes.

I helped the student edit her citations. We wrote brief notes on the slides for her presentation and edited the formatting of the presentation. We spoke on the phone for 20 minutes after I sent her the edits and went over the slides and the order of the presentation and made plans for our meeting tomorrow.
