I am a rising senior at Barnard College of Columbia University, studying both Music, and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. During my time at Barnard, I have been giving private voice lessons and private music lessons (basic music theory and ear training) to students between the ages of 8-18. In high school, I peer-tutored students in Algebra I, Pre-Algebra, History, and essay-writing, my teaching/tutoring; my experiences are both versatile and extensive. Though I have experience teaching a wide range of subjects, I thoroughly enjoy tutoring students in math. In my experiences with students who struggle with math, I aim to help them understand and solve problem sets through fun step-by-step processes. As someone who grew up with a learning disability, I value patience, unique learning styles, and encouragement. Math can be challenging, but once I show students different ways to approach their problem sets, I see outstanding results. It is always wonderful to see students come to actually like math! Outside of school, I am a competitive classical singer; I have performed all over the world, from Carnegie Hall to cathedrals in Italy. Most recently, I placed first in my age division for the Bellagrande Music Competition. Being that said, I am well-versed in both music theory and ear training, and have experience teaching both subjects. I love performing, but I also love teaching the art of music and voice. Getting to witness my students' vocal and musical growth is incredibly rewarding. Above all, I want my students to succeed, progress, and find enjoyment in the work we do together.
