I attended Eastern Kentucky University for my undergraduate degree. There I received a Bachelors of Science degree in Middle Grades Education in Math and Social Studies for grades 5-9. I returned to Eastern to complete a Master of Arts in Literacy. I received an additional Masters degree with the University of the Cumberlands and received a Masters of Arts in Teacher Leadership with a focus in Mathematics. I also worked to receive a high school math certification through the state of Kentucky.
I have been teaching math for 9 years. I spent 4 years teaching grades 6-8 math and have spent 5 years teaching grade 9, Algebra 1. I have tutored Algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, pre-algebra, and middle school math for the past 9 years. My favorite subject to tutor is Algebra 1. I teach Algebra 1 all day and I love it! I think the content is fun and engaging. It is also very useful in everyday life!
My teaching and tutoring philosophy is to focus on the student. Every student is unique in their needs. My goal as their teacher and tutor is to find out what their needs are and focus on that. I also believe in building relationships with students so they know I care about them.
In my personal life I love to cook! I cook 3 meals a day for my family! I fix breakfast every morning, lunch (or pack lunches for my kids when they have school), and a homemade dinner every night. I enjoy making family favorites and experimenting with new recipes! I love to be outside. We love to swim and have camp fires. I also enjoy shopping and make up!
